There is a campus located in Maryland, but classes are also held off-site. The Emergency Management Institute is unique in that all courses and materials are free and housing is often included. You must apply and be accepted to take courses at this facility but online training is also availalbe at no cost to anyone with access to the internet. Though you do not recieve credit for these courses, you can still gain valuable knowledge by taking them. A full list of courses is available on the Independent Study portion of the FEMA EMI website. Taking these courses can help you make informed security decisions and help prevent and prepare for dangerous situations. For a comprehensive security solution, arm yourself with both the knowledge and the tools necessary for peace of mind. Useful tools include first aid kits, supplies of clean water and non-perishable food items, alarm and CCTV systems and more.
