Top Five Fire Safety Tips

When you think of fire safey in your home, several things may come to mind. You probably know never to leave candles or open flames burning unattended and that heat and smoke detectors are essential on every floor of your home. There are things that may not be apparent however that can drastically improve fire safety in your residence. We've compiled a list of lesser known safety tips that can help save lives. Use these tips as well as your good judgement to ensure your home is as safe as possible.
  1. Even items that don't produce a flame can lead to a fire. Hot irons, for example, should not be left unattended and should be turned off when not in use.
  2. Make sure to dispose of dry or dead vegetation in your yard. A careless passerby might throw a lit cigarette on your property with disastrous consequences.
  3. Don't have deadbolts that lock with an inside key. You'll want to be able to get out as quickly as possible should a fire start.
  4. Make a fire escape plan for your family and practice at least twice a year. You'll want to find two exits out of every room and to choose a meeting place outside.
  5. Be sure your address is easy to spot from the street. You don't want emergency personnel taking time to find your home when there is a fire - every second counts.

Outpatient Health Care Center in NJ

When most of us think of alarms, images of burglar alarms or fire alarms may pop into our heads. But there is a whole world of alarm systems out there that are used for purposes beyond fire safety and home security. Take for instance, off-site surgical centers in New Jersey. So much care and focus goes into properly caring for the countless outpatients that require constant professional attention. With all the work involved, the last things that care-givers or patients should have to worry about are security breaches such as intrusion or burglary.

With a busy facility like an NJ outpatient health care center, the environment can often be chaotic, with a lot of different services happening at once. Keeping that in mind, some security measures need to be taken in order to ensure that safety risks are minimized. Without an alarm system, there is a greater chance that personal property will be stolen, intruders will enter the premises, fires can go unnoticed and drugs can go missing from the pharmacy. All of these outcomes are undesirable and dangerous. The best way to prevent one of these unfortunate scenarios playing out is by taking responsibility and calling TR Alarm to consult with one of our highly trained security technicians about  the security options available for off-site surgical centers.

If you have additional questions about security for off-site surgical centers in NJ, or want to learn about the multitude of other security systems we offer, please feel free to give TR Alarm a call today at 1-800-486-5019. We look forward to being of service!

Bad Weather Burglaries - Criminals Don't Care About The Blizzard

Contrary to what many people believe, crime rates don't drop when it rains or snows. You may be surprised to learn that some burglars even prefer bad weather.  The days are darker when clouds cover the sky, visibility is reduced in rain and snow and people are more likely to forget to lock their doors and windows. When people are preoccupied with their umbrellas and snow boots, they sometimes forget about safety - don't let this happen to you.  A major blizzard (Winter Storm Nemo) is set to hit the Northeast today with over 6 inches of snow expected in most  parts of New Jersey and up to a foot in Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Hudson and Sussex Counties. It is important to take precautions during the storm including having plenty of water, flashlights, batteries and full gas tanks, but it's also important to keep your home secure. Lock your doors and windows, leave lights on when you're not home (even during the day, since it's darker burglars will take notice) and make sure to have a burglar alarm system installed and monitored. If you have some extra cash available, it is fairly affordable to install a door access system as well. These systems can provide peace of mind, locking doors behind you when you leave. A simple keypad is all it takes to help keep burglars out and your valuables in. For a customized security solution call T&R Alarm Systems today at 1-800-486-5019.

Strange But True: Wild Burglary Stories

An unusual theft occured this week in Orange County, California. A thief was in the process of stealing several caged birds in a resident's back yard when the homeowner walked out. After the homeowner questioned where the thief was going with the birds, he became violent, whipped out a gun and began to chase the owner. The owner ran into his home and locked the door, which the thief was easily able to kick in. The owner then locked himself into his bedroom and then his bathroom as the thief kicked in door after door. He was held at gunpoint for some time until the burglar finally left, taking the family's dog on the way out. Fortunately, no one was harmed, the birds were left behind and the dog was found shortly after on a street nearby. The thief was never caught and no one understands why the thief was so interested in stealing some random inexpensive birds or dog-napping a Chihuahua, but we do know this incident may have been prevented with proper security measures. The owner lacked an alarm system, a CCTV system and even a dead bolt on his door - if some off these security tools had been implemented this strange, scary situation may have been avoided. If you're looking to protect your home, give T&R Alarm Systems a call at 1-800-486-5019. We offer affordable pricing, quality service and a wide variety of security solutions for your homes and businesses.
