Strange But True: Wild Burglary Stories

An unusual theft occured this week in Orange County, California. A thief was in the process of stealing several caged birds in a resident's back yard when the homeowner walked out. After the homeowner questioned where the thief was going with the birds, he became violent, whipped out a gun and began to chase the owner. The owner ran into his home and locked the door, which the thief was easily able to kick in. The owner then locked himself into his bedroom and then his bathroom as the thief kicked in door after door. He was held at gunpoint for some time until the burglar finally left, taking the family's dog on the way out. Fortunately, no one was harmed, the birds were left behind and the dog was found shortly after on a street nearby. The thief was never caught and no one understands why the thief was so interested in stealing some random inexpensive birds or dog-napping a Chihuahua, but we do know this incident may have been prevented with proper security measures. The owner lacked an alarm system, a CCTV system and even a dead bolt on his door - if some off these security tools had been implemented this strange, scary situation may have been avoided.
