Burglary Spree In New Jersey Has Homeowners On Alert

Residents of Morris and Somerset Counties in New Jersey are on high alert this week. The ‘James Bond Gang’ has broken into dozens of homes in the area over the past year and a half, and they recently struck again. The organized burglary ring, estimated at between 30-50 members,  is known for its quick escapes. The group generally targets homes in wealthy neighborhoods with easy access to highways and their most recent burglary in Chatham, N.J. was no different.  After cutting phone lines to disable the alarm system, members forced their way into the home, located off the Morris Turnpike. Gold jewelry was stolen, likely because it can be melted down and is not easily traced, and the burglars fled the scene. Though the alarm system was disabled, several photos were taken of four masked men by a CCTV system in the home. Unfortunately, the burglars have not yet been caught. To protect your home or business from a similar incident, consider investing in an alarm system that communicates via cellular transmitter.  These systems, which communicate suspicious activity to a central station, cannot be disabled when phone lines are cut.
